I decided to combine these reviews because these two Kobo devices both have upsides and downsides - and if you combined the two, they would be one killer device that would give the Kindle a run (more on this later). It’s a review of the biggest competitors Kindle has: the Kobo Aura & Aura One. I still liked it (except for that one sewer part, which I’m sure you all know about by now), but this isn’t a book review. So I own a Kindle Paperwhite and got 5-10 minutes of reading done at night.
That’s a 1000+ page book that would have been impossible to lug around in addition to all that other stuff. I just finished reading Stephen King’s IT for the first time. My point, however, is that you may have these issue on any products of the Kobo lineup, so I wouldn't advise against a specific model just because of the complaints of users having the lighting issue.since OP could buy a different model and encounter it anyway.Why don’t I read hard copies anymore? Now, even considering the usual selection bias for which most people enjoying something don't write so online, while the opposite is true for people encountering faults, it's clear Kobo has a subpar QC policy compared to the competition. I'm definitely not the only one, considering what you can read online. That being said, my point is that I've now owned 2 Kobo devices and both had issues with the lighting system. Was I bothered when I first unboxed the (rather pricey) device and found out it had the issue? You bet! Does it bother me on a daily basis, when I read? No, I don't notice it at all, especially at the brightness levels I use. Possibly compatible with the issue you mention.Īs far as the Libra (and the Forma, including mine.) is concerned, yes, the uneven lighting problems usually comes in the form of a strip of brighter light close to the edge that contains the buttons. I haven't followed the discussion on the Clara lighting issue a lot, my unit had a distinctly brighter spot in the bottom left area of the screen.
